Civil Engineering Technicians Course Outline

Week 1A: Introduction to Civil Engineering Projects and what is expected of Civil Tech

Week 1B: Terminology

Week 2A: Basic Surveying Concepts

Week 2B: Overview of Construction Set of Drawings

Week 3A: Understanding drawings by other disciplines (Arch, MEP, Struc, etc)

Week 3B: The process of organizing a basic Site Plan

Week 4A: Learning utilities like Water, Sanitary, Storm, Detention, SWQ

Week 4B: Plan Drawings in Subdivision Projects

Week 5A: Plan and Profile Drawings and how distorted scales work

Week 5B: Learning the information needed for each type of drawing

Week 6A: Base Math and Geometry needed to understand drawings

Week 6B: Notes, Details and other Non-Site Plan drawings.

The Course is 6 weeks long for a total of 48 hours of training. For Example, Week 5B means that night is during the 5th week on Thursday night from 6p-10p. "A" designation means Tuesday nights from 6p-10p.

This schedule can be modified to better serve participants before the course begins.
